The point of the Summary is to convey the scope of your experience and
background and to indicate to the reader your key strengths and areas of expertise. This section should be brief and value-oriented. This is your opportunity to combine and build on similar aspects of your background that may have been acquired over a period of many years in a number of different positions.
The Summary section of your resume can also have the following titles:
· Background
· Background Summary
· Career Highlights
· Career Summary
· Highlights
· Highlights of Experience
· Professional Highlights
· Professional Profile
· Profile
· Summary of Experience
These sentences should highlight the aspects of your background that will appeal most to a potential employer.
Keep them short and to the point.
EXAMPLES
· Coordinated review and approval process of large volumes of contract requests.
· Nearly five years' progressively responsible experience in microprocessors.
· A fast-track, highly motivated, team oriented executive with a successful background in turnaround situations.
